Born in Asunción, Paraguay, Behrens spent his youth in the US and Argentina. With a degree in Business Administration and International Trade, in 1966 he was sent to Lima, Peru, by Henkel, as the executive responsible for the company’s businesses in Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru. In 1987, Behrens was named CEO for the Mercosul countries, a position he held for 17 years.
After retirement, he became CEO of CERONA (sustainable energy) and president of the Oswaldo Cruz German Hospital, in São Paulo. He was a board member at SBA and Bookeepers, combining extensive professional experience in Latin America with managerial experience in a large multinational corporation.
